Natural treatment

Treat migraine with medical cannabis

Unfortunately, migraine is not curable. However, the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks can be reduced. To prevent migraine attacks from occurring in the first place, healthy eating, regular endurance sports and avoiding stress are recommended. The latter can be achieved through behavioral therapy, in which negative thought patterns are reduced, or through relaxation techniques such as meditation.

Natural therapy for migraine

Migraine is a special form of headache. They occur irregularly, usually only on one side of the head and are perceived as pulsating, pounding or drilling. In the case of a migraine, the headache is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting or visual disturbances and intensifies during physical exertion or under the influence of light.

The most common causes of migraine

Migraine attacks
Migraine attacks can last up to 72 hours and restrict the well-being of sufferers to such an extent that they are unable to work or engage in any activities. Although migraine is widespread and has been known for a long time, there is no clear answer to the question of how migraine is caused. A disturbance of the messenger substances in the brain in combination with circulatory disturbances is suspected.
Trigger
A migraine attack is initiated by different triggers. This can be alcohol, lack of sleep or stress. If you suffer from migraines, it is advisable to make sure you are always rested. Not only alcohol, but also nicotine or caffeine in high quantities can put your body in a state of stress, which can eventually lead to a constriction of the blood vessels in your brain and to a migraine attack.

The therapy

In the case of chronic, i.e. regularly occurring migraine attacks, various medications and painkillers are used. An alternative to these drugs in the absence of a therapeutic response is cannabinoid therapy with medicinal cannabis, which can be associated with fewer side effects, be more effective, and act prophylactically to prevent an attack from occurring in the first place. Our specialized collaborating doctors will be happy to work with you to determine whether cannabinoid therapy could help in your case.
